Industry standards for aerospace-related gas-containment membranes (gas films) primarily address material properties, structural design, manufacturing, sealing performance, and product reliability. Specific requirements are determined based on the intended application, operating pressure, the medium being contained or transported, and the installation environment. Currently, there is no single, universal standard for all types of aerospace gas-containment membranes; instead, applicable requirements are drawn from a combination of national standards, aerospace industry standards, military standards, or specific corporate technical specifications, depending on the product category. For membranes designed for gas sealing, pressure isolation, or gas transport, standards focus on mechanical properties, gas tightness, pressure resistance, temperature tolerance (high and low), and environmental adaptability. For instance, membrane materials must meet specified requirements for tensile strength, elongation, and tear resistance; for composite materials, the quality of interlaminar bonding and performance stability over long-term use are also critical. For key areas such as seams, interfaces, and sealing edges, standards define requirements for connection strength, dimensions, and manufacturing quality to prevent gas leaks or structural failure caused by localized defects. Regarding structural design, strength verification-often involving finite element analysis or empirical testing-must be conducted based on operating pressure, load variations, and installation conditions to ensure the membrane remains stable within its designated operating range. It should be noted that for any specific project, applicable requirements must be determined by consulting the latest, valid versions of standards and product technical specifications; one cannot simply select an aerospace standard based solely on the product's name.

Furthermore, a comprehensive quality control system must be established for aerospace gas-containment membranes, covering the entire lifecycle from raw material procurement and manufacturing to final product inspection. Raw materials must be verified against their specifications, performance test reports, and batch information to ensure that their origin and quality align with design documentation. During manufacturing, rigorous checks are required for cutting precision, the quality of heat-sealing or bonding, the integrity of composite layers, and the dimensions of interfaces-ensuring the absence of defects such as air bubbles, wrinkles, delamination, cracks, or inadequate sealing. For finished product inspection, specific tests-such as dimensional checks, visual inspections, leak-tightness tests, pressure-resistance tests, and any necessary environmental adaptability tests-should be arranged based on the product's intended use. The results of these inspections must be documented to ensure the traceability of product quality.
